Sleaze!

The source and date of this are unknown to me: it’s almost certainly a newspaper cutting but it’s been mounted so that there is no reference to the paper or the date. I found it in a file that had been re-labelled from one originally entitled “Reducing Your Personal Tax Bill”, which I think might possibly have been the name of a book published under the imprint of a famous accountancy firm rather than containing sleazy top secret plans for avoidance!

I initially thought the date of this is probably from 1988 or before but I’m beginning to think it’s much later such as around the time of the “cash for questions affair” in 1997. Either way, it was either really prescient or, more likely, I suppose, nothing much changes really. For example, box 6 relates to the privatisation of the Post Office – as I write this further details of the recently announced sale of the Royal are just being released! The man at No. 10 does look remarkably familiar – although that must be just coincidence!

F E Hansford: The Story of The Little Georgian House and its neighbours

I think that this house – No. 4 Bath Place, later 318 Euston Road was so little that it has now disappeared. From a quick glance through the pamphlet one can only wish that the developers had had as much sympathy, erudition and love of the subject as Mr Hansford.
